Prep football is back, games await
Sanger, Dinuba host scrimmages, games begin on March 26

A one-week hiccup because of COVID-19 protocols delayed the start of a revised spring season for region high school football teams, but players and their family members finally had their appetites whet- ted with actual game ac- tion this past weekend.
On March 19, steady rain and gusty winds did little to dampen enthu- siasm for Dinuba High players, coaches and families. The Emper- ors participated in their Green and White Scrim- mage at Claud Hebert Field. The team's roster was split up in the con- trolled intrasquad, and Dinuba got in its final full contact preparation for its Friday, March 26, season opener at home against Tulare Western High School.
Sanger High, mean- while, had its sched- uled season opener on March 19 against Lem- oore High reduced to a scrimmage with the Ti- gers on March 20 at Tom Flores Stadium. But on a sunny late afternoon, the Apaches turned in an impressive performance against the visitors from Kings County.

For the first time since November 2019, football players for Sanger and Dinuba high schools put on the pads and played in game conditions. On March 19, the Emperors held their Green and White Scrimmage in rainy, windy weather at Claud Hebert Field. The next day, on March 20, the Apaches hosted Lemoore High in a scrimmage at Tom Flores Stadium. The originally sched- uled game was downgraded to a scrimmage to comply with coun- ty and CIF-mandated COVID-19 restrictions.
