A few winter vegetables may be planted by seed this month. Consult the California Garden Web for more information.
If not already done, pumpkins may be planted in July. Enjoy now: Annuals and perennials: Russian sage (Perovskia), annual phlox (Phlox drummondii), moss rose (Portulaca), gloriosa daisy (Rudbeckia), marigold (Tagetes), zinnia. Bulbs, corms, tubers: tiger lily (Tigridia). Trees, shrubs, vines: oleander

Rebuild water basins around deep-rooted permanent plants; water deeply and less frequently. Watch for the bright orange twining stems of the parasitic plant dodder. Remove any affected plants.

Staff and volunteers with the Reedley Community Services Depart- ment gathered for a group photo at the June 25 Reedley City Council meeting. The department made a presentation to the council recog- nizing July as Parks and Recreation Month in Reedley. Volunteers and Mayor Frank Pinon read a special proclamation urging Reedley resi- dents to "enjoy and recognize the social, physical, mental, economic, environmental and community benefits derived from our community center, public parks, community swimming programs and all services and programs through the Community Services Department."
Marcy Masumoto, a former member of the Sanger Unified School Board. “It’s right here. We’ve had a line outside the EECU ATM outside the school district offices (nearby on Seventh Street) every time I’ve been there. “This is a good thing for Sanger and the entire community.”

"Great place to visit. Morning we went there, four staff members were there and each added wonderful information about various historical items," wrote Jerry Mikos in a Facebook review. "Ended up spending over two hours there talking
with them. All lived there all their lives and had many memories to share. A must stop when in the area."
