Reedley Police ar- rested two men they suspect is tied to a se- ries of commercial bur- glaries in the downtown area of the city.
Robert Maciel, 30, and 30-year-old Angel Santamaria were ar- rested at their respec- tive residences on Aug. 12 after police executed search warrants. Police initially arrested Ma- ciel, and then took San- tamaria into custody later that day.

As of Aug. 16, some stolen property from the burglaries had not been recovered.

Just in time for the start of the 2021-22 school year, the Sanger Police Department has put out a safety video urging drivers to obey traffic laws when it comes to school buses putting on their red lights while transporting stu- dents.
Jorge Fernandez, SPD detec- tive, spoke in the near-three min- ute video about California Vehicle Code 22454(A) regarding buses.
"During the school year, chil- dren are picked up and dropped off at various locations, and driv- ers should be aware of the laws pertaining to the school buses as they are picking up and dropping off students," he said.
Fernandez said VC 22454(A) states that drivers approaching from either direction any school bus equipped with and operating a flashing red signal or stop sig- nal arm "shall bring the vehicle
to a stop immediately before passing the school bus and shall not proceed past the [bus] until the flashing red light signal and stop signal arm, if equipped with a stop signal arm, cease opera- tion."

misunderstood is that in an undi- vided (no median) road, traffic in both directions should stop when the lights are displayed. If the lanes are separated by a median, traffic on the opposite side do not need to stop.
Fernandez said that the fine for not stopping for the flashing red lights is approximately $679, and violators will get a point add- ed to their driving record.
