Eyes may be windows into a person’s soul, but the eyebrows frame the eyes, help express feelings and add shape to the face. Eyebrows also can be subtle indicators of a person’s health.
Caring for eyebrows is a part of any woman’s beauty and health regimen. According to the television personality Dr. Mehmet Oz, the shape and look of eyebrows can deter- mine a lot about someone’s health. For example, Dr. Oz says that thinning eyebrows can be an indication of a nutri- ent de ciency. inning also may be a natural side e ect
of aging, since eyebrows grow more slowly than other body
hair.
Women who are missing the outer portion of their eyebrow - not due to over-plucking - may nd that thyroid issues are to blame, according to the health editors at Good House- keeping. If eyebrows remain thin after dietary changes and more moderate grooming habits have been tried, women should consult with their physicians.
Although trends pertaining to eyebrows now lean toward fuller, more natural looking brows, hair removal is still popular. Tweezing brows is one of the safest methods to groom eyebrows. Tweezing
also o ers the most control over how much hair is re- moved at one time. As with all brow-grooming methods, cer- tain side e ects can result from tweezing. Ingrown hairs, infec- tions from open pores that let in bacteria and follicle damage may result from tweezing, ac- cording to the resource Smart Health Advice.
Healthy diets, safe groom- ing techniques and watching for changes can keep eyebrows healthy and beautiful. Women should consult their physicians if or when they are experi- encing problems with their eyebrows.

Assisted Living at Home
By Jim Dueck
When seniors can no longer
be left alone for more than a few hours, they begin living an assisted living lifestyle even though they may still be living in their own home. Not all seniors or their families realize this has happened because it can occur slowly over time.
Many seniors, who remain
in their home and need help with activities of daily living, consider themselves to be inde- pendent even though they are receiving help from a spouse,
family member, friends or paid caregivers.
A spouse is often the rst
to begin providing help but if the couple is elderly, this can take a toll on the health of
the one who becomes the care giver. Providing care can also be di cult for younger family members as it can become a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week task. When a senior cannot be left alone, their family needs to make a decision as to how their
family member will receive what they need. Family can provide what is needed, care givers can be hired to come
to the home or the senior can move to an assisted living com- munity which is often the least expensive option.
Each family is di erent and there are pros and cons to receiving care in the home. Some families think they can save money by hiring caregiv- ers and paying them cash to
avoid the employment taxes. But, if you or your caregiver gets audited by the IRS, or if someone gets hurt on the job, it could mean big trouble that far outweighs the potential sav- ings. If you do not follow the labor laws regarding breaks and overtime and other matters, you could have potential legal problems. If the care giver is in this country illegally, that may create other more serious legal issues.
If a senior cannot be left alone and has memory prob- lems, that multiplies the potential problems for family and care givers. Receiving care at home can be more compli- cated than seniors and their families realize. It is always best to know all of your options and the pros and cons of each approach before beginning to provide care for a senior who cannot be left alone.
