ACF RIFLES MUSEUM VISIT
In March Cadets, and Adult Volunteers
for Welwyn Garden City Detachment of 2 Company Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Army Cadet Force visited Peninsular Barracks
and the Royal Green Jackets and RIFLES museums. The cadets were keen to learn more about the history of their sponsor regiment.
Although they had been taught military history at detachment, they would now get delve deeper into the depths of the history spanning back to the Light Infantry and
up to the formation of The Rifles. As they walked around the museum, they saw how the regiment moved with the technology and innovations of the times on and off the
battlefield. Moving through to The Rifles Museum they learnt of the formation of
The Rifles, seeing the echoes of their own detachment who were originally Royal Green Jacket prior to the formation. After spending time in the museum shop and leaving a donation to the museum they left with a wealth of newfound knowledge and pride in the cap badge they wear and represent. The Cadets and Adult Volunteers are grateful to museum curator, James Fenton and the rest of the staff who welcomed and gave them the benefit of their extensive knowledge.
