COMMODORE’S REPORT
Thank you for the honour of electing me as your Commodore, at the AGM on the 9th March.
For the record, all Resolutions at the AGM were passed.
Thanks are due to the Commodore; Rear Commodores Sailing, House, and Facilities; and the Executive Committee Members who have just retired, for their commitment and hard work for the Club.
Volunteers are a very precious resource, without which the Club could not function. So, our thanks are due to them all; Committee and Sub-Committee Members and those
that support the Club’s activities on an ad
hoc basis. If you wish to become a Volunteer, please let me know!
Dave Martin – Rear Commodore Finance, agreed to stay in post for a 3rd year, for which, personally, I am extremely grateful.
The new Rear Commodores are Ginny Bennett – Sailing and Richard Colegrave
– House. The House Committee now comprises House and Facilities. Operationally Richard will be responsible for Facilities and
Trevor Watson for House. The new Executive Committee’s Team objective is to endeavour to get the Club into a sounder financial position.
At the end of the Open Forum, following the AGM, the Stephen Parry Trophy, which recognises excellence in Volunteering, was presented by Robin Funnell – immediate Past Commodore, jointly to Virginia Boyle and Tina Daniel, for going ‘Above and Beyond’, particularly in the late Summer
of 2022. Virginia had just stepped down as Rear Commodore House and Tina as Rear
Commodore Facilities. Whilst in office, they had worked seamlessly together to enhance the attractions of Gins.
The days are getting longer; the Summer beckons, so I wish you all an enjoyable sailing Season. Gins is gem, so come and enjoy all that your Clubhouse has to offer; a well appointed Pontoon, drinks on the Balcony or Lawn and delicious food from our new Chef.
Fair winds!
Guy Darby Commodore
