For those unaware, the Initial Training Group (ITG) has now dissolved and the 1* Op Gp that delivers all Army
Basic Training (BT) for soldiers is now known as the Soldier Academy (Sldr Ac). Its vision is to “deliver world-class training to every recruit. Wherever they join, whatever their role, they will experience a modern, agile basic training programme which will build character, competence and resilience, preparing them for a career of possibility, variety, pride and belonging. Recruits will be exposed to the highest standards of military training, delivered
WO1 (SMI) R Harnden RAPTC
by highly trained, engaged and motivated professional instructors who unlock potential, inspire direction, and instil the ambition to serve.”
Alongside the inception of the Sldr Ac has been the roll out of the new Common Military Syllabus (CMS) which has been termed CMS Future Soldier (FS). CMS FS encompasses digitised resources and has been designed to better enable the learning and development of the current generation of those wanting to join the
Army, underpinned by the lessons learned from Ops MOBILISE and INTERFLEX.
As always, evolution is constant and since the last edition, the PD team within HQ Sldr Ac has been bolstered with the arrival of Maj (MAA) Mark Greenwood who has assumed the newly established role as the SO2 Physical Development (SO2 PD) within the G7 team.
I’ll keep my bit short and leave it to the teams in the sub-units to explain their journeys over the past 12 months.
