of friends and colleagues made it possible to raise the significant funds needed for Tom’s Trike. The trike will make a tangible difference to Tom’s physical fitness and independence.
The Veteran’s Orthopaedic Service at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital in Oswestry is the initiative of Lt Col Carl Meyer RAMC. The Centre provides outstanding support to UK Armed Forces Veterans and several of our Association Members have had the privilege of being operated on there. The Centre has many plaques and pictures which represent
the cap badges that have been treated there. Following treatment at the Centre, Maj (Retd) Stewart McNeish proposed to the Association Trustees that we should present the Centre with a plaque from the RAPTC. This was agreed and the SMAA and Regimental Secretary, accompanied by Maj (Retd) John Larkham, visited the Centre in May and presented Lt Col Carl Meyer with a RAPTC Plaque and a framed copy of the 150th Anniversary Print.
A firm fixture in the diary is Founder’s Day at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. It’s a fantastic day and a great opportunity to
catch up again with our In-Pensioner, Rod Trenam. This year, I was accompanied for the first time by Lt Col (SMAA) Sean Semple and WO1 (Corps SM) Dan Brown. In addition, we had arranged for one of Rod’s friends from their Probationer ’s Course to come along too. So it was that former WO2 (QMSI) Hugh Drummond tagged along, Hugh went on to take a commission with the Royal Artillery and retired as a Major.
Well, that’s the short version, as you can see there’s plenty going on!
