This year 2 SCOTS have seen a huge turnaround within the Battalion, bidding farewell to SSgt (SSI) J Hodskinson – an incredible RAPTCI – and to LCpl Masson, who has successfully transferred into the RAPTC. 2 SCOTS have since welcomed Sgt (SI) J Fleming RAPTC, posted in from RMAS, working alongside SSgt (SSI) S Craft RAPTC in his Forward ERI Role.
2 SCOTS are an exceptionally busy Battalion, they are currently deployed on Op SHADER, Op INTERFLEX and various other UK and overseas commitments. Despite being spread to the four corners of the world, 2 SCOTS have had great success across a variety of sports, most recently, Football, British Army Warrior Fitness (BAWF) & Volleyball. This year has seen the BAWF team win all 3 regional events so far, leaving them with the final 2 events to be held by 3 RIFLES and SCOTS DG, where the team are certain to secure their place in this year’s BAWF Final. The team’s success is down to the commitment of all athletes and coaches within the 2 SCOTS BAWF community, working hard at every opportunity.
The Battalion Football team are having a good start to the season so far. Undefeated in the Infantry Cup, they move on to the Semi-Final against 1 RIFLES, the team on their current form have a strong chance of progressing to the final and winning the trophy. The Battalion, although heavily committed, have still managed to field

a strong team under the watchful eye of Company Sgt Major Chris Andrews.
The Royal Regiment of Scotland Boxing Show, which was held in Nov 23 at the Oriam Arena, Edinburgh, has to be the highlight of the year for the gym. A hard-fought competition saw Soldiers from across all 5 Battalions demonstrate admirable levels of determination, courage and commitment. The highlight of the event was Fusilier Donaghy (2 SCOTS) collecting Best Boxer of the evening. The gym held a 6-week Regimental training camp supporting all boxers in their journey to the event, with both SSgt (SSI) Craft and Sgt (SI) Fleming providing valuable input to the Regimental Boxing Team as coaches.
Sgt (SI) Fleming immediately put his mark on PT within the Battalion by introducing the ‘Jock Athlete Programme’ aimed to improve, educate and enhance soldier performance. By individualising all training, increasing weekly sessions and providing a personal Fitness Card to monitor and track the metrics, the ‘Jock Athlete Programme’ encouraged Service Personnel (SP) to take responsibility, provided clear improvements across all components of fitness and increased deployability to 89%.
SSgt (SSI) Craft has also been a great asset to the Battalion this year, in his position as ERI Fwd, he has been working hard with the injured personnel across

the unit. SSgt Craft has ran 2 successful ‘Angus VC’ courses in his time here, which are specifically aimed at accelerating the rehabilitation and recovery of injured SP. The course is 3 weeks long and provides excellent results with over 50% being upgraded to Medically Fully Deployable (MFD) upon completion.
