Iam currently stationed at 39 Engineer Regiment (39 Engr Regt) in Kinloss Barracks, Morayshire, which is the
largest Field Force unit in the British Army. As I enter my third year with this unit, I must express my gratitude for the opportunity to serve alongside such a remarkable team.
The Regiment has been engaged in various exercises and duties, with each squadron specialising in different areas and carrying out missions worldwide. The training facilities within the camp, including the expansive decommissioned airfield and the picturesque Moray Firth, have provided ideal settings for our activities, especially Commanding Officer’s PT. Additionally, I have organised sporting events, such as clay target shooting at renowned locations like Rothiemurchus in Aviemore, attracting competitors from across the British Army Scotland (BAS) region.
One of the highlights this year has been my involvement in coordinating the planning for the upcoming Sapper Games 24, a major sporting event scheduled for Jul 24, that will see units from across the UK come together to compete in various sports at Kinloss. This event is anticipated to be one of the largest sporting gatherings in the Army.

In my efforts to contribute to the local community surrounding Kinloss Barracks, located near Forres between Inverness and Aberdeen, I took on a new challenge by addressing the shortage of on-call firefighters. With the support of my unit, I successfully applied to become a member of the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service two-years ago. Through this role,

I have responded to diverse emergencies, including road traffic collisions, fires, water rescues and medical incidents. In addition to emergency response, I engage in outreach activities, such as educating vulnerable individuals and schools on fire, road, and water safety measures. The satisfaction of using my skills to assist those in need is truly fulfilling.
