4Regiment RLC (4 Regt RLC) is an extremely busy, Field Force Unit in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Whilst
the principal aim has been Operations including LINOTYPER and INTERLINK, there has also been a key emphasis to reinvigorate PT, Sport and AT opportunities.
Whilst deployed on Op LINOTYPER, 4 Regt RLC have managed to continue our British Army Warrior Fitness (BAWF) enthusiasm incorporating a BAWF League into the Forecast of Events (FoE). This has helped improve fitness and morale on the Op whilst also growing the activity amongst the Regt.
4 Regt RLC has had a strong year accomplishing success in a myriad of sporting fixtures / events at Unit and Army level. We have a talented cohort of sports personnel who have continued to succeed in team and individual sports. The Regimental BAWF Team continued their success with victory in the South East Region. The 4 Regt RLC Nordic Ski Team came 2nd at both pre- season training (Norway) and Divisional (France) level, with members of the team going on to represent the RLC at the Army Championships. The success of the Regiment’s sporting activity is, without doubt, down to the commitment of the Sports Officers and AAPTIs. Sporting participation is encouraged and supported by the Chain of Command (CoC), with Service Personnel (SP) having many opportunities and the time to participate. The message this promotes to new members of the Regiment is positive,

highlighting the numerous opportunities available to them in theAarmy.
20 members of 4 Regt RLC completed an Overseas Adventurous Training (AT) package in Croatia to complete Mountain Bike Foundation (MBF). The aim of Ex TIGER ADRIATIC was to traverse the Adriatic Coastline whilst training and developing new and existing SP in mountain biking. The expedition provided some arduous training for the Officers and Soldiers prior to deploying on Operations, whilst providing an excellent opportunity for raw talent to be introduced to AT.

It has so far been a very busy year for 7 Regt RLC, beginning with a deployment to Kenya in support of Ex HARAKA STORM and an ongoing overseas
deployment on Op INTERFLEX in Eastern Europe. We were also extremely busy preparing to deploy a task Sqn to the USA to take part in a joint UK/US Army exercise providing logistic support on a large scale. SSgt (SSI) Beattie will also be deploying to carry out a concise acclimatisation package and ensuring fitness facilities are in place for those deployed.
7 Regt RLC also completed an overseas adventurous training package, Ex DRAGON VALETTA ORZEL, a
3-week diving, rock climbing and mountain biking package held in Malta. SSgt Beattie organised the trip and lead the mountain biking element. The exercise was a success and saw 60 Service Personnel (SP) from across the Regiment take part. We are now in the midst of planning a 4-week UK based AT package to include climbing, mountaineering, paddling and mountain biking and another overseas expedition in Malta.
SSgt Beattie has also been working hard on a much- needed uplift of the Dalton Barracks Gym, which will hopefully come to fruition this year.
