26th Regiment Royal Artillery (26RA) is the Army’s Divisional Fires Regiment. Equipped with the Multiple Launch
Rocket System (MLRS), the Regiment delivers precision strike munitions out to 84km in support of the Iron Division.
This year, as the SSI for 26RA, has been fast moving but enjoyable, establishing myself well within the unit and integrating myself as part of the team. My aim this year has been to focus on the positive aspects regarding physical development, sport and adventurous training maintaining the readiness for all personnel.
The PTI capability in 26RA has been getting stronger and stronger. By helping each other and passing on the knowledge from the more experienced PTIs in the unit we are delivering enjoyable, challenging and excellent PT throughout the Regt. The AAPTIs are crucial when it comes to delivering, they are the ones who make my job easier and inspire those who want

to don the crossed swords. Since arriving at 26RA in Jul 23, we have had a total of 7 new PTIs pass the AAPTI course and Bdr Preece passing RAPTC selection and who should be joining the ranks as a fellow RAPTCI very soon. Thank you to Bdr Preece who was an amazing asset to 26RA and will be an amazing asset to the Corps.
Thank you to those regular members of the cross-country team who have supported 26RA throughout the season, if it wasn’t for their hard work and perseverance, 26RA would not have competed in the Cross-Country season.
Well done to the 26RA Basketball team for winning the Gunners basketball tournament and coming second in the HQSW Festival of Sport (FoS) 23. WO2 Japp has worked hard training and managing the team on top of his job as the Regimental OpsWO, if it wasn’t for individuals like WO2 Japp who go out their way and set an example, sport in the Army would not happen.
This year has proven difficult in many respects. However, ‘we’ as a Corps have shown diligence to be reactive and adaptive to all aspects of health and fitness. Esprit de Corps!
