10 EAGLE AND CARBINE
Weather approaching on WARCOP ranges
our vehicles and overall the squadron is settling into a different routine where they can enjoy more time at home with family and friends. This brings its ben- e ts, but also its challenges; it is certainly already different from the routine in BFG. Since arriving in Leuchars soldiers have also shown really good order in being held for long periods of time at readiness for UK Operations. Whilst not the most exciting ticket to be on, it has been none the less important to do it to the best of our ability. Small arms ranges have taken place, nothing special, but again a way to remind ourselves that the somewhat abnormal activities over the summer had not turned us all in to civilians. In addition all of the squadron has again mounted up and deployed the Jackals and Coyotes on the road and on short exercises to bring us back up to speed, notably during the ‘Exercise LEUCHARS GREY’ events.
Sport has continued to be a highlight, with the following particularly notable achievements. Corporal Tuitubou
Sniper training
Tpr Metcalf competing in the Army Motorcycling Championships
and Lance Corporal Cabemaiwasa have
both represented the Army Rugby Team.
Corporal Ford has been the Army Females
Rugby Coach for their clash with the Under-21 female England Squad. In Motocross, Trooper Metcalf gained 3rd position of out of 115 competitors in the Trials cat- egory and has been selected to compete for the Army team in the Scottish championships. A Squadron also won the inaugural Leuchars Highland Games tug-o- war competition!
2015 has been a remarkably busy year, which has own by for all in the squadron. We now all look forward to the challenges 2016 will bring, especially participation in Exercise WESSEX STORM in the summer. Once that is completed, a full Light Cavalry training cycle will have taken place and the Squadron will be as ready as it has ever been as Light Cavalry.
