ing and stage, lighting, sounds systems, the military display, the children’s area, the live band, two Royal Cars, a RMO for Her Majesty, security, sniper teams, close protection and a large area for thousands of pounds worth of  reworks. The effort from the team during this period was  rst rate with special mention go- ing to Mr Laver who was truly outstanding. It wasn’t all plain sailing and there were a few close calls. Some swift footwork was required from Sgt Foster on realising that a Homebase hosepipe was not up to the grade of  lling 40,000 litres of water ballast before the New Year, let alone within the space of a few hours and soliciting the local  re brigade to assist.
The day of the parade itself ran like clockwork. There was a small issue in the unseasonably unkind Yorkshire weather but covered seating and some hastily purchased blankets from the

Edinburgh Woollen Mill prevented major casualties. Watching the parade move through Richmond town in column of route and advance in review order within the keep was hugely impres- sive. I would like to use the opportunity to thank the whole team for their efforts to ensure a great day for all concerned. As a  nal task we attempted to do as any good recce soldier would and “leave no trace” – a task made dif cult by the poor weather, but we did our best.
It was a great privilege and honour to be part of the Amalgama- tion Team. Knowing we did our job to ensure a memorable and positive experience for all involved was deeply satisfying as was watching the newest and  nest cavalry Regiment make its  rst mark.
