International Day
Gustavo Cabral Thomé, Commander – Brazilian Navy
The 26th of November 2022 marked a remarkable celebration of diversity and cultural exchange at the International Day hosted by ACSC26, a major annual event organized and conducted by the International Students. This event, held at JSCSC, has become
a cornerstone of the College Program, providing a unique opportunity for students from around the world to share their rich and varied cultures with both the British hosts and each other.
The heart of the event was the vibrant display of individual country stands that adorned the venue, showcasing not only information and highlights but also tantalizing samples of national foods and drinks. The atmosphere was further enriched by the Forum, where national displays of dance, song, and other forms of entertainment brought the cultures to life. The Fieldhouse catered to the younger audience with special entertainment for children, creating an inclusive environment for families to participate.
ACSC students and staff, along with their families, were joined by embassy guests and student sponsors, creating a diverse and engaged audience. The event was nothing short of amazing, fostering
a sense of unity and understanding among the Academy’s community.
Beyond the festive ambiance, this event holds significant benefits. Firstly, it provides students with
a platform to develop cross-cultural communication skills, fostering a global mindset essential in today’s interconnected world. Secondly, the International Day creates an inclusive community at JSCSC, breaking down barriers and promoting a deeper understanding of the diverse backgrounds within the Academy.
This event not only celebrates diversity but actively contributes to the Academy’s mission of producing well-rounded, culturally aware leaders ready to face the challenges of an ever-evolving global landscape.
