Simon Smith meets Emma Jesson
I’ve followed Emma on Twitter for a while and back in March at the start of Covid19 lockdown she posted a few times about growing her own vegetables so I cheekily mailed her and asked if she’d mind doing a Q&A for Simply Veg. I was delighted when she agreed, and although she admits she’s very much a beginner she is certainly very keen about it and her enthusiasm shines through. I’ve been even more delighted
to be able to give her a few snippets of advice via email. Indeed, I’ve hopefully cured her of her inclination to drown some crops!
Have you always been interested in growing your own produce Emma?
My great-grandparents, Hannah and
Philip Kitcher, were very successful market gardeners who won many silver trophies which I proudly treasure at home, and I
can only aspire to being as proficient as them. Growing up, Mummy spent much of her childhood with them, and I hope they’ll be looking on from their side and feel proud
