Just a reminder and dare I say, as we head towards Christmas, the Scottish branch Polo shirts and fleeces are available for ordering from our Treasurer, Linda Stocks. All the clothing depicts the round NVS logo in white, along with the Branch identity beneath and look really smart.
It’s nice to see more people out and about wearing the Branch polo shirts and/or fleeces including our President, Jim Williams in the Summer SV when he travelled to the Lancashire DA to do a talk.
The following items are available to order via Linda. Prices below do not include Postage and packaging and may be subject to a slight increase because at time of writing this article in August, our garment supplier has just confirmed they will be re-opening after lockdown in October. Where possible, we will still try to deliver any orders by hand to avoid any extra cost. Please note, the lady’s sizes are quite a neat tailored fit, so some ladies might prefer to either order a larger size or the straighter unisex version. Also, the gent’s fleeces are quite generous

Thought’s
Well we have all had a huge impact on our lives this year due to Covid19. Like all other Branches we have
had to cancel shows, displays,
the Seminar and biggest of all the Nationals at Dundee. However, the most important thing is that we all stay safe and well. 2021 is another year. We really don`t know at this time what the future holds but we must be ready for it as a Branch
and a Society. Maybe this will totally change the way we operate – who knows. I was particularly saddened that the Nationals at Dundee were cancelled in our 60th year as we were planning a real celebration.
We also were anticipating that the Nationals would be held there in 2021 but unfortunately Dundee
City Council are now unable to accommodate us due to looking at changing the way they operate the show. We did look at alternatives
but in reality, none were willing or capable of hosting us. So, it’s back to the normal rota and Wales next year.
I was really pleased that 3 of our members Bill Duff, Rhona Begg and Peter Fitch were awarded Fellowships this year. All have put in a tremendous amount of work for the Society and thoroughly deserve their recognition and award.
On a personal note I have grown very little this year apart from onions and leeks for stock. However, I’ve probably been busier than ever with altering my set up and renewing and replacing lots of things in preparation for 2021 and onwards. I am also heartened by the way the Trustees have operated, utilising technology such as conference calling and Zoom. Maybe this is another way forward.
So, although this year as one woman once said is an annus horribilus we have to remain positive and look forward. So, look out 2021 – hopefully we will all be back with a bang
