8 CRUISING REPORTS
UPDATE
FROM
CAPTAIN
OF
CRUISING
Reflecting on 2022, we had a thoroughly enjoyable season of sailing. It was a pleasure to meet so many new and seasoned cruisers and host many of you onboard La Ina.
The Bembridge Rally in September was a great success, with eleven boats making the trip around with the breeze giving a perfect sail across.
The Laying Up Supper in October was also well attended, and following a very tasty ‘Grazing Platter’, the photo competition winners and runners-up were announced. Thank you to Reuben Powell for judging the photos, and selecting the well-deserved winners and runners-up.Thank you to all of you who submitted photos.
I would like to thank Bob and Jackie (Arabesque) for hosting the Newtown Creek Rally. La Ina has yet to succeed in attending, dead house batteries on La Ina being our undoing this time. The four boats who attended were treated to an unseasonably warm day, followed by a veritable feast onboard Arabesque.
At the time of writing, we have eighteen people already booked on the first of the Frostbite Rallies to the RAFYacht Club. The proposed menu looks wonderful, and
Natalie and I are very much looking forward to catching up with everyone again.
Planning for the 2023 rally programme
is well under way. Please do keep an eye on the website for the latest updates but the programme below is not expected to change too much (he says optimistically).
I would like to thank Steve and
Cathy Lacey in advance for once again volunteering to host the StVaast Rally. We
