VETRUUS HELPS KEEP
WORKING DOGS WORKING
The highly active life of working dogs can expose them to a higher degree of ear and skin infections, particularly those in military service where overseas deployment can include additional environmental pressures.
Vetruus, a leader in veterinary dermatology products and training, has specialised in maintaining healthy skin in dogs since the company began in 2011. Founded by a small group of veterinary industry professionals, Vetruus works in partnership with major pharmaceutical manufacturers to bring innovative and proven dermatological products to the UK market.
The company’s advanced product range has been scienti cally formulated to treat speci c problems. Its latest Peptivet range of Oto gel, shampoo and foam contains no antibiotics to help in the ght against antibiotic resistance and enables veterinary surgeons to manage their dermatology cases responsibly.
Support to complement products
“Skin infections can easily prevent dogs from maintaining full operational capacity, and our product range and advice helpline are available to support Veterinary Of cers and Veterinary Nurses maintain the health of the Military Working Dog eet,” says Cathy Gurney, managing director at Vetruus. Manned by European Diplomate Consultant Dermatologists, the helpline is ideal whether it’s a quick question or a lengthier problem case to solve.
Support and training are also seen as an essential complement to its products and Vetruus runs free CPD events across the country covering a wide range of dermatology
topics. The talks are
hosted by leading
European dermatology
specialists.
For nurses seeking
to take their knowledge
to the next level, Vetruus offers the Veterinary Dermatology Award, part
of the prestigious BSAVA Nurse Merit Award Scheme. The course includes theory, practical training and a student-led case project.
Bruce Hibberd’s Army Number: 22548879
By Sue Hibberd
This is the only photo I have of my father, taken when he was in The Royal Warwickshire Regiment for 1 year. Directly afterwards he joined the RAVC at Melton Mowbray. Sam Perry remembers him well! Sam was a year younger than my father. Bruce was 19 when he joined the RAVC.
Recently I was awarded my father’s original medal. Back in 1954 when he left the army and they tried to deliver it to him, they couldn’t nd him at his home address. Unfortunately, due to injuries sustained whilst in the Malayan jungle, he was sent to the Cambridge Military Hospital. Afterwards he was very ill for a long time, and spent many years in and out of different hospitals. He therefore never received his medal!
If anyone remembers Bruce Hibberd from Malaya and would like to get in touch with his daughter Sue, her email address is soozysu@gmail.com or telephone 01789 299 650.
