Take That Live, Charlotte @ Jollys Toys invites you to party...
Fancy a night with Take That? Well the closest we can offer is an evening with ‘Take That Live’, an award-winning tribute band featuring ‘Gary’, ‘Mark’ and ‘Howard’ sing-a- likes! On Saturday 29th February at The Plaza, Charlotte from Jollys Toys is hosting a concert to raise funds for Thrapston-based charity The Souster Youth Trust.
As well as the boys performing live songs from the recent ‘Odyssey’ tour back to 1990s favourites, there will be a disco and cash bar. Tickets are £15 each and available from Jollys Toys on the High Street, or from www.jollystoys.co.uk/jollys-fundraisers. This event is for over 18s.
Who is Souster Youth? It was established as a charity in 2015 by The Arthur Souster Charitable Trust. Souster Youth works in local schools including Prince William in Oundle and Bishop Stopford in Kettering, to support the social, emotional, and spiritual needs of young people. It also works closely
with churches and community organisations to support youth work in East Northants.
Many of you may know Jason Royce who is Director of Souster Youth and a member of the St James’ congregation. Jason and his team have a wealth of experience in working with young people and specialise in education, youth culture, mental health and theology. They help young people to journey through their adolescence with everything from how to traverse a complicated digital world; online and real-time bullying; coping with grief; sexuality; anxiety and depression including self-harm, and many other challenges which our young people face.
The charity is based at Souster House on Market Road (Thrapston Methodist Church before it closed), and also offers specialist youth worker training, parent workshops and new monthly youth drop-in sessions are set to grow in 2020 as funding allows. For more information visit www.sousteryouth.org
What is The Arthur Souster Charitable Trust? Some of you may remember Barbara Souster who was a life-long Islip resident. She devoted much of her life to supporting a group of young people she called the ‘Guild of St Nicholas’. She was a dedicated Christian and helped young people explore questions of faith and involvement in the local church, and supported them as they reached adulthood. Barbara inherited Weetabix shares from her father; when she was made an offer to sell them she set up a trust fund so that young people would continue to benefit from her resources long into the future. This trust fund, The Arthur Souster Charitable Trust, is still hard at work supporting local and international charities which Barbara held dear, including St Nicholas’ Church in Islip. Not least the Trust contributes significantly to the running of Souster Youth. A team of five trustees now manage the Trust on Barbara’s behalf since her death in 2007.
