team have to complete a set of puzzles and clues in a themed room that you are locked in. Ours was set during World War two. The escape room was brilliant; it allowed us all to escape the stress of the course and our injuries, as well as being a lot of fun. It had the benefit of helping the Lucknow Cadets bond as a team. As we are all at different stages of the course, it can be quite difficult when first meet- ing an entirely new Platoon to integrate immedi- ately, as people often cling on to their old one.
A little later in the course, Lucknow were learning about offensive and defensive operations; how- ever, there is only so much you can learn from a PowerPoint, so to add realism, we were given the opportunity to look at a variety of different weapon systems from the Sandhurst collection. It was a great learning experience which defi- nitely helped the Cadets gain a better, more tan- gible understanding of what kinds of weapons and tactics a future Officer has to plan against.
Coming near to end of term, most of the course has had a company dinner night; this is some- thing that Cadets in Lucknow can miss out on as we are no longer part of our old Platoons. This fact is well known; however, we were able to have our own dinner night on the Old College
steps. We were treated to an excel- lent meal with beautiful views of the Sandhurst grounds; it was a unique experience as most people do not get the privilege.
This term has been brilliant although I am now watching my friends com- mission without me. I know that the
course is relative, and I will be back enjoying sleep deprivation and muster parades. With- out the Sandhurst Trust, the transition to Luc- know would have been that much more difficult as everything I have mentioned could not have been possible.
 After a lot of hard physical exer-
cise, Lucknow Platoon needed
a break and so we decided to
visit Lee Valley Olympic Park
Velodrome in London! It was an
absolutely fantastic experience;
we were able see where the UK
achieved Olympic success but
also have a personal lesson in
the velodrome itself. After a tenuous start with dread for how steep the banks were, we all man- aged to pick up the speed to start racing round the track! We worked in a team, creating a slip- stream for each other, and after a good lesson learning how to use the velodrome to maximise efficiency, we all did a timed lap. This again could not have been possible without the Sandhurst Trust’s donation.
