shows that it is possible to create a replica by using the same moulds from the Fitzgerald fountain. With new technology and progress made in recent years in metal castings, it is feasible and well worth exploring. The Fitzgerald fountain restoration project has shown how a composite process involving the remoulding of some 580 missing parts was successfully achieved. This gives us hope that it should be feasible with the technical advancement in our iron casting industry to recreate Northampton’s cherished heritage.
In the meantime, we are pleased to know that the Fitzgerald fountain ‘Made in Northampton’ stands proudly at the Metro Junction in Mumbai.
