Midland Branch
From the Chair
I am privileged to have been elected as Chairman of the Midlands Branch at the AGM
on 24th July. I have been on the Midlands Branch Committee for approximately 21
committee members to take on the various positions needed
to run a Branch successfully. If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact me for
years and have held several roles during that time, although this is my first time as Chair. The Committee has been somewhat unsettled during
the last year with members resigning for various reasons, so my main objective is to try and attract new members to regain some stability to the Committee.
We desperately need new committee members

By the time you read this, we will
have held our Branch Championships at Malvern, the first Show for two years, and met up with friends old and new. The West Midlands DA will also have supported BBC Gardeners’ World Live, and reports from these Shows will be in
Of necessity the
AGM was held later
this year owing to
Covid, but hopefully next year it will be back to the usual date in March. Thanks, must be extended to Norman Dickinson from the Southern Branch for stepping in
as Membership Secretary whilst the Midlands Branch looks for someone from its own area, and to Jean Forrester, National Treasurer, for acting as Branch Treasurer for the interim. I am also grateful to Graham Brickstock for taking on the role of Simply Veg sub-editor. If you have any stories to tell which you think would be of interest to others, send them to Graham for insertion in the magazine. His contact details are at the front of the SV magazine.
Unfortunately, we had a very poor turn out for the AGM, which was held in Newent, Gloucestershire. With a lot of new members coming from the county, it would have been nice to have welcomed them to the meeting, however, it is appreciated that we are still living in strange times and people were still being cautious. There is always next year...
the next edition of Simply Veg. In the meantime, continue to
keep safe.
