COMBINED CADET FORCE
QUEEN ETHELBURGA’S CCF RETURN TO DUTY
By AUO Mary Hood
On the 10th May we were proud to see almost 40 cadets from the Army and RAF Sections return to their first face-to-face parade afternoon since last summer.
Contingent Commander Major Steve Emerson addressed the cadets, welcomed everyone back and highlighted the exciting training opportunities the CCF plans for the future. He also took time to give praise to the cadets who had engaged in the virtual training that had taken place throughout the lock-down. Special praise was given to the cadets who had paraded at every single virtual parade. Those cadets and the locations they logged in from were:
LCpl Macey Walsh
LCpl Hannah Wardman
LCpl Eden Cusack
Cdt Sze Ying (Sammy) Chan Cdt Wing Lau (Rachael) Fung Cdt Wing Yan (Angel) Lau
Cdt Nikolay Kolendenkov-Em Cdt Cody Savage
Cdt Leona Richardson

Flight Lieutenant Amy Cox led the afternoon’s training and delivered a practical lesson in Commu- nication and Information Systems (CIS), introducing cadets to radio and voice procedures. While Captain John Shaw, the SSI, conducted administration in the background; it’s surprising how many cadets had grown during lock-down and required an exchange of uniform!
This session was the perfect team building exercise after such a long gap since face-to-face training and it was great to see the cadets are carrying on where they left off last year with lots of enthusiasm and commitment!
