Another busy and challenging year working as the RAPTCI at 6 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps (6 RLC). 6 RLC are based at Dishforth Airfield in North Yorkshire.
The Regiment consists of three squadrons; 600 (HQ) Squadron, 62 Squadron and 64 Squadron, as well as a Light Aid Detachment. The Regiment is one of two logistic regiments in 102 Logistic Brigade. Their role is to provide logistic support to 1 (UK) Division by preparing forces for fixed and responsive tasks. The unit are paired with 150 Regiment RLC and 159 Regiment RLC and are proud of their strong reputation amongst their combat arm peers, earnt through their logistical prowess.
As an RAPTCI I have enjoyed working with 6 RLC and found it a rewarding experience. It is evident that they prioritise their service personnel’s dedication to sport and this was proven when we were crowned the Army Sports Trophy (AST) Champions, 1ST (United Kingdom) Division ‘Rhino Sports Trophy’ Champions & the UK North Sports Major Unit winners for 2020. A fantastic and well-deserved achievement for a unit that was instrumental in the Op RESCRIPT effort during the majority of 2020.
Another notable success that I am particularly proud of is the arduous charity fundraiser that I completed alongside LCpl Pepperell in April 2020. Raising money for the National Health Service Critical Illness Charity was especially pertinent at this time. At the forefront of the fight against COVID these frontline workers deserved some recognition and only a physically and mentally demanding challenge would be suitable for such a fantastic cause.
Wearing full uniform, webbing and helmet weighing 8kgs we climbed a cargo net continuously for 12 hours. Our original
aim was to climb and descend the equivalent distance
of Mount Snowdon (the highest mountain in Wales)
a total of 1085 metres. I am extremely pleased to report that we both surpassed the distance and climbed a total distance of 6896 metres
and raised just over £1800 for charity.

am now looking forward to deploying on Op TOSCA in Mar 21, a peacekeeping tour to Cyprus working within the United Nations. In the only divided capitol in the world 6 RLC BG will have the responsibility of maintaining the integrity of the Buffer Zone. My team and I will be an integral part of the deploying contingent, keeping the soldiers physically and mentally fit with an
imaginative and progressive training plan which will incorporate mental health and mindfulness, whilst they try to navigate through an unconventional deployment with all the challenges
COVID brings.
