We spent 11 days touring Sri Lanka, enjoying the climate, experiencing the growing methods for their crops i.e. vegetable, coconut palm, and seeing how they preserve the fish caught by traditional methods, as well as the friendly hospitality. What an enjoyable time alongside fellow allotmenteers with an expert guide.

We hugely enjoyed the tour to Sri Lanka. Our lasting impression is that we have been part of something unique offering a real insight into agricultural practice in Sri Lanka that
would have been difficult to achieve had we been travelling alone or on the regular tourist trail.
Highlights for us were the days spent with farmers both on the coast and up in the hills, seeing how they worked with the different conditions, utilised water and irrigation,
what crops they grew and how they treated the soil. Being able to walk the fields and enjoy the hands-on experience we had in Nuwara Eliya was a real privilege, and the curiosity they had about growing practice in the UK meant there was a real exchange of knowledge at play.
