Prizewinning at Tindall Street
Tindall Street Allotments held their annual Judging for the Best-Kept Plot and
Best Newcomer Plot, at the beginning
of September. Judging was by Dennis Johnson, Chairman of the site, and Steve Dennison, Salford Allotments Officer. Competition was strong on this Salford flagship site with over 60 plotholders, but
two entries were outstanding winners.
The shield for the Best-Kept Plot was
won by Dave and Laura Marsden with their plot 34, which they have cultivated for over 30 years and is a model for any ambitious gardener. A big accolade went to the Best Newcomer at Tindall Street, Kevin Smith, very ably assisted by his two sons, Ryan and
Dylan. Aged just 9 and 14 and both keen gardeners, they tamed a totally wild plot into one of astonishing productivity in just one season. The boys have demonstrated that with some monster pumpkins – heading for the record books!
