                   Northampton in Bloom 2018
In May this year one of the plotholders, Steve Kane, from Harlestone
Road Allotments in Northampton, Northamptonshire, was entered into the Northampton in Bloom competition run by Northampton Borough Council. Pictures were taken as Steve’s plot progressed over the coming weeks. Steve worked very hard on his plots to keep them in pristine condition for the competition.
On Friday 6th July, two judges came to visit the site to look at Steve’s plots and judge them. The results of this judging along with a report, were then passed onto a further panel of judges who made the final decision. After the judging had taken place, a comment was made that they would happily have spent the day on the plots as they were so lovely. They asked what Steve did with the produce he grew, as there
was so much of it. Steve gives a lot of the produce away to the local care homes in the area.
All entrants into the Northampton in Bloom competition were invited to a presentation evening on Thursday 4th October at the Northampton Guildhall. Steve was awarded Gold in the category he was entered into. Judy Odley, Harlestone Road Allotments
