Maesycoed Allotment Association – Centenary Year Celebrations
Maesycoed Allotment Association celebrated their Centenary year with a special event at Pontypridd Rugby Club on Friday 19th October 2018.
Present and past members and their families were invited to the evening event, which began with a small presentation on the history of the allotments by the Chairman, Mr John Marsh, followed by a buffet, a slice of celebration cake and a raffle.
On display was the original Rent book dated from 1918 to the present day, and various documents regarding lease and conveyance of the land over its history, with the most important document being ‘Deed of Gift’ dated 2nd October 1984, which enabled the Allotments to be self-managed from this date.
A commemorative slate plaque was unveiled by Mrs Judith Hill (Welsh Regional Representative of NSALG), which is to be mounted on the Meeting shed door.
Presentation to outgoing secretary – Mr M Crockett During the evening there was a special presentation by Mrs Judith Hill (Welsh Regional Representative
of NSALG) to our recently outgoing secretary of 28 years, with an inscribed crystal Tankard and a crystal Goblet for his wife.
Mr Crockett made a short thank you speech for the support over the years by the committee and members, and wished the association all the very best for the future.
