2018 has been a year of change here at the Museum of the Mercian Regiment (WFR Collection). At the start of year, the Trustees of the Museum were very saddened to learn of the passing of one of its Trustees and Sherwood Forester, Lt Col (Retd) John Cursham TD. John had been a Trustee of the Museum for 47 years and joined the Sherwood Foresters in May 1948 after transferring from UOTC. The Trustees of the Museum will miss John’s wisdom and relentless commitment to the Museum over the years.
Nottingham Castle closed its doors to the public in July and will be closed until 2020 for
a much-needed redevelopment, which will see the building of a brand-new visitor centre and a major overhaul of the galleries; including ours, thanks to a successful HLF bid. With the gallery
