OUNDLE
The magazine for Oundle and its villages
LIFE
 Happy Birthday to us...
We are celebrating our first year of Oundle Life ~ and what a year it’s been...
From time to time we get these crazy ideas to launch new magazines, but never has a new title been so embraced and supported by the community which it serves.
The first issue seems so very long ago, after all, so much has happened in the world over
the last 12 months. But as they say “every cloud has a silver lining” and it was the pandemic that inspired us to try and help our local high streets by establishing Oundle Life.
Our wish was to produce a magazine that was first and foremost a jolly good interesting read, with lots of local news and stories, but it also had another purpose – it had to promote the return to shopping local. The high street retailers had been through such difficult days, and sometimes, people just don’t
know what’s available right on their
doorstep.
We have had nothing but fabulous feedback from our readers, but it
wouldn’t be anything without the people
and businesses who have supported us
from the start. The entire magazine is
funded solely by its advertising, so our sincere thanks must go to the wonderful advertisers
who grace our pages every month. We truly can’t thank you enough for your continued support – you are all brilliant.
But a magazine is nothing without interesting articles and so my most heartfelt thanks must go to the inspired architect and talented writer that is Joe Croser. His stories bring the area’s buildings to life and hopefully make us all appreciate where we live. His story this issue explains why buildings are ‘listed’ and how it helps to protect our heritage (page 21).
