Noddy as he was known in the Regiment joined the Army in 1959 and after complet- ing his basic training joined the Regiment in Omagh, Co Tyrone in Northern Ireland. He also saw service in Munster, West Germany. After completing 6 year’s ser- vice he returned to Bowburn, Co Durham. After leaving the Army he was a member of the “Buffs”.

part of the escort for Lady Dorothea Head when she visited the Squadron. In 1957 Frank returned with the Regiment to Omagh in Northern Ireland on I.S. duties. In June 1959 he moved with the Regiment to Barnard Castle to become RAC Training Regiment where he remained until November 1961 when the Regiment moved to Munster. Frank was still in B Squadron as Ad troop Corporal carrying out the duties of Tech Rep which took him to 1969 when he went to Warminster with B Sqn on detachment. When the regimental format changed Frank moved to Admin Squadron on promotion and took over the post of Regimental accommodation NCO a posi- tion he held until his demob in 1976. Frank was a quiet man full of knowledge on all things mechanical. He used this know how as captain and founder of the go kart club to great success on the track. In 1972 and 1973 in Fallingbostel the team won the BAOR championships in all three classes. Frank spent most of his spare time working on the club karts even in his quarter bathroom. He was awarded the GSM Malaya and Northern Ireland and the LSGCM. On demob Frank went to work at Darleys brewery in the town where he lived until he became infirm and couldn’t work. He was a loyal supporter of the local branch of the RBL and was a regular there supported by his son Ian. He was also a long serving member of the Liverpool dinner which he attended every year again supported by his son. Despite his failing health Frank made every effort to come to Liverpool until he could no longer manage the journey.
Frank passed away quietly after a long ill- ness bravely fought on 16 April 2022. May
joined the Regiment in Munster. He saw service in Germany, Hong Kong and UK including service in Northern Ireland. He also went on a posting to Catterick from 1973-75 as a Gunnery Instructor. He then returned to the Regiment and joined them in Omagh for 6 months before returning to Tidworth. He then decided to leave the Army in 1976 after attaining the rank of Sergeant and returned to the North East where he worked in engineering. In his retirement he enjoyed building models of vehicles he served on and was a regular attender at Sahagun celebrations.
Maj R H Dunn MBE TD

Richard (Dickie) Dunn died peacefully in Bromyard, Herefordshire, on 5 June 2022.
Born in Solihull on 6 February 1930, he was educated at Ampleforth College, King’s College London and the College of Law. He served with C squadron (The Legion) of 15th/19th The King’s Royal Hussars for his National Service as a troop leader in Malaya based at Ipoh in 1954/1955 during the Malayan Emergency where he met in the regiment Philip Douglas who subsequently became his brother-in-law. After National Service he qualified and practised as a solicitor, first in London and then in Birmingham and Worcester, until his retirement. After fin- ishing National Service he maintained his interest in the army by serving from 1954 to 1970 in the Territorial Army with the Inns of Court Regiment in London and then with The Queen’s Own Warwickshire and Worcestershire Yeomanry until its reduction to a cadre in the army cuts, being awarded the Territorial Decoration and an MBE for his TA services. Richard is survived by his wife, Caroline, three children (Charles, Adrian and Charlotte) and nine grandchildren. His son, Charles, also served in 15th/19th The King’s Royal Hussars from 1979 to 1986.
We were informed by Ron’s son that he had sadly died aged 87 years of age. Ron was called up to com- plete his National Service in 1955 and after completing his basic training he joined the Regiment in Wesendorf, West
Germany. Ron was employed in the Light Aid Detachment as a mechanic when the Regiment had its own fitters. It was whilst completing his National Service that all of the fitters in the Regiment were trans- ferred to the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. As well as seeing service in Germany he also served in Malaya. After completing his 2 years ser- vice and attaining the rank of LCpl Ron left the Army. After leaving the Army Ron was part of the East Anglia Branch of the Regimental Association and was also involved with the Scouts. He leaves behind his wife Shirley and other family.

We were informed that Peter had sadly died aged 81 by his son Gavin who also served in the Regiment. After completing his basic training at Barnard Castle at the RAC Trg Regt he joined the Regiment there
We were informed that sadly Ray had died aged 72. Ray joined the army in Sep 76 and after completing his basic training at Catterick joined the Regiment at Tidworth in Feb 68. He saw service in Germany and Northern Ireland and was the GSM and NI Clasp. He also served 2 years on a posting at Bovington. After completing 9 year’s service he decided to leave the Army and settled back in his native Sunderland.

and later joined 3rd Tp in A Sqn. Peter saw service in Germany and the UK. Whilst on leave with George Douglas he met George’s sister Sandra and they then married. After serving for 5 years Peter decided to leave the Army in 1964 and settled back in Blyth. Peter’s career in the Army was not over and he joined Northumberland Army Cadet Forces as a 2Lt and served with them for many years. Peter leaves behind his 2 sons Gavin and Ian.
