There have been some changes made for the 2022-2023 angling season. Sgt Rowson has assumed the duties of Secretary and Treasurer for all events for Group 5 for the Yorkshire region of the AAF. Cpl Hodson has assumed the respon- sibility of promoting all events on social media platforms for Army Coarse Fishing.
Throughout the 2022 season Sgt Beevers, Sgt Rowson and Cpl Hodson represented The Light Dragoons at army team level in some of the biggest events on the Coarse Fishing calendar. The team came 2nd at the Inter Services, attended multiple Police Service events, charity events and much more all over the country. Achieving some great results and experiences along the way. The Light Dragoons is the best represented Regiment within the Army team and provides more anglers to the Army Team than most corps teams.
In September the annual championships for the AAF were held at Tunnel Barn
Angling
Farm in Warwickshire, this consisted of 5 tough days battling it out against 80 plus anglers to become the 2022 individual champion. With only Cpl Hodson able to attend due to Ex GD there was ever more pressure to bring the trophy back to RD. His overall result was an outstanding joint 1st place on points, but there can only be one winner and it went down to overall weight, unfortunately Cpl Hodson was knocked back to 2nd place overall. Still an outstanding achievement by any means.
Group 5’s 22-23 season commenced in October, this consists of 34 anglers fishing 12 events throughout the year and results being based on overall weight. At the end of the season your best 5 results count and it is great to say that Sgt Rowson, Sgt Beevers (REME) Cpl Hodson and Cfn Nicholson (REME) have all got off to a fly- ing start with match and section wins. It is going to be yet another tight season.
