Gree􏰁ngs,
It has been some 􏰁me since we had a piece of art on the front cover so I was very pleased when Pam agreed that I could publish her study of a Black- throated Diver which is a linocut with acrylics. Such talent.
You will read elsewhere in this edi􏰁on that the number of field events on offer this year has been down on previous years but those that have taken place have been well described in interes􏰁ng reports on pages 4-11.
Event leaders are the backbone of the club’s ac􏰁vi􏰁es and, in order to boost their numbers, Nigel Caldico􏰀, the most recent addi􏰁on to the commi􏰀ee, has proposed, and taken on, the posi􏰁on of Field Events Adviser. Please read his descrip􏰁on of this new role on page 16 and, if you have considered running an
event in the past but have been unsure as to how to proceed, let his advice and exper􏰁se give you the confidence to take the plunge.
Cunningly juxtaposi􏰁oned to Nigel’s item is the deadline for submissions to the annual calendar. Remember that next year will mark our 30th anniversary so let’s make it a bumper year for being out birding: friends, birds and picnics.
Other business ma􏰀ers, tradi􏰁onally included in the summer edi􏰁on, can be found on pages 14-16. immediately a􏰂er Andy’s View from the Chair.
He recently led a trip to Slovenia and a report of that appears on pages 18-21. It makes for excellent reading but possible trip envy!
I have given you a mixture of birdie and wordie quizzes which I hope you will enjoy.
