Thrapston Town Council
Thirteen Councillors make up the Town Council, which currently has the following Committees; Planning & Asset Management, Finance & Devolution, Events & Community
Engagement and Personnel. Additional Committees and Working Parties
are set up as required, for example when special projects are being undertaken such as the recent
Peace Park Centenary Project and
the Tuesday Market. Details and
agendas for these meetings are
posted on the Town Council noticeboards and on the Council website.
Thrapston Town Council’s main responsibilities include:
• Maintenance of open areas detailed in the ‘Parks & Recreation’ section
• Management of community facilities such as the Community Centre (Thrapston Plaza), Thrapston Cemetery, and the public conveniences
• Tourism development and promotion of the town and its facilities
• Public seating, some street lighting, litter and dog waste bins on Council owned land
The recent restructuring of local government to a
unitary system will bring significant
change to local Councils and we anticipate that Thrapston Town
Council will be expected to take on additional duties in the coming years.
Thrapston Town Council works to keep our town tidy. One of the ways we do this is by providing
dog waste bags free of charge. The bags can be collected from the Town Council office, Healthy Pet Supplies (Huntingdon Road) and Thrapston Farm & Garden (Midland Road). While there’s no charge to collect a packet of bags donations are encouraged. This Council year donations
raised will go to Brook Farm Animal Sanctuary.
