BRADLEY
Mrs Sheila Bradley, wife of WOII Reg Bradley, Kidderminster Branch died on 2July 2018.
CARRINGTON
Major E C ‘Ted’ Carrington died on 25 September 2018. Ted was I/C of A Company on the formation of Mercian Volunteers in 1967
(later 1st Bn Mercian Volunteers). He was
later to command the Company before he moved to the Gulf. He was a member of the Trustees of the Armoury at Stockport for many years
COLLINS
Mrs Margaret Collins, wife of Major David Collins who served with the Worcestershire Regiment and 2nd Bn Mercian Volunteers died on 5 October 2018.
CURWOOD
Melvyn Curwood died on the 8 July 2018. Melvyn was a member of D Coy, 1st Bn Mercian Volunteers in Nottingham.
DRAKEFORD
Lt Richard Drakeford, who died in 2018 was a Platoon Commander with TAC, Walsall..
O’MARA
WOII William ‘Bill’ M’MARA originally
served with 5th Bn The South Staffordshire Regiment prior to transferring to the Mercian Volunteers in 1967. On the disbandment of
the 1st Bn he transferred to the 3rd Bn, the Staffordshire Regiment and ran the Intelligence Cell for the Bn. On leaving the Army he became the PI for the CCF at the Queen Mary’s Grammar School, Walsall and the Royal Wolverhampton School, Wolverhampton
RHODES
Sgt Phil Rhodes died on 2 August 2018.
As a member of
HQ Company, 1st Bn Mercian Volunteers, Phil
fulfilled many roles including as a Signaller, a Regimental Policeman and a member of a successful Shooting Team.
ROWLES
Steve Rowles died on 23 June 2018. He was a member of B Company, 1ST Bn Mercian Volunteers.
RUSSSELL
Sgt Russell was a long serving member of
HQ Company, 1st Bn Mercian Volunteers at Wolverhampton in the Signal Platoon and as a CO’s Driver and was a member of the group that
went out to Kenya with the Staffordshire Regiment.

SHOOTER
Sgt ‘Danny’ Shooter died on 26 October 2018. Danny was a long serving and very active member of the Anti Tank Platoon based with D Company 1st Bn Mercian Volunteers

Cpl Les Tovey who served with B Company, 1st Bn Mercian Volunteers at Kidderminster.
