Tribute to Mike
Mike’s Chairmanship of the club has le􏰀 a legacy of
greatly improved service to members par􏰁cularly with
regard to communica􏰁ons. He introduced the news
email system which facilitates informa􏰁on reaching all
members quickly and is par􏰁cularly useful for le􏰂ng
us know about events which have been arranged at
short no􏰁ce. The monthly Zoom mee􏰁ngs are another
of his innova􏰁ons: introduced as an alterna􏰁ve to
field events when we were under COVID regula􏰁ons
they proved so popular that they are now very much part of GBC life.
Since Mike took on the role of Chair, commi􏰃ee mee􏰁ngs have been held over Zoom and occur every quarter. This makes the process of decision making more enjoyable and inclusive.
As well as bringing us through the difficul􏰁es created by the pandemic, Mike was inspired to organise a very special 25th anniversary fund raiser enabling the GBC to help The World Land Trust to purchase over 25 acres of rainforest – a truly enduring legacy and one in which we can all share.
