do that and I wish I could. Theres a sense reassurance knowing how they feel and that it’s not just us.
Then in July we had a superb visit to Adwell House near Thame. The time of the year was just right to see the splendour
of the roses, modern and old fashion,
with perfume that triggered the senses. Gorgeous refreshments all followed be inspiring walk around the wonderful gardens and lakes.
Our Show Season
At the time of writing, it is about 6 weeks way from our next event, The Bucks County Show on Thursday 29th August 2024. We will have a stand of stunning
Show Perfection Peas
vegetables displaying what you could grow with a little bit of know-how and support. Both of which are available via the DA so please come along and support us there
or one of our talks. Additionally, there is
the flower and Vegetable show talk our DA members also enter and do really well, it’s a good step up from village shows. So, if you haven’t tried it before why not give it a go. A good starting point is to visit, have a look around and a chat with one of the people there. We are always available to offer help and advice.
Bucks DA members are already well on their way to growing and preparing for the BUCKS county show along with the NVS Southern, Welsh and National. As

you probably know much of this started months ago. So, to have the exhibits for the shows in the space of a month or so will take some work. It takes some serious successionally growing. This year we managed to get a few photos from behind the garden walls for your pleasure.
Upcoming talks
We have two more exciting talks scheduled for the DA members and guests, both free of charge to guests.
Firstly, on Tuesday 15th October we
have our very own John Lowe and Julie Wills talking on Their Allotment Life. Here we have two super understated growers who now regularly produce prize winning exhibits locally, regionally and nationally. And we are getting an evening to hear their secrets!!
And finally, to wrap the year up on Tuesday 19th November we have Gareth Hopcroft, from Ecothrive, talking on using COIR as a real alternative to peat. I think this will be a great opportunity to address the pending issue of life without PEAT! Hopefully see lots of you there.
