The final week represented the more competitive side of the training camp, kicking off with a 7km night-time Classic Race. This was followed by a 24km Patrol Race, a 4 x 3km Relay Race and a 7.5km Biathlon Sprint Race. Each race posed individual challenges and required the team to implement all the skills learnt over the previous two weeks in a high pressure and competitive environ- ment. Throughout the week, morale became the strong point of the team, even in the face of never-ending uphill segments and regular mass collisions. As a result

of this infallible morale and some serious graft, both as individuals and as a collective, the team performed exceptionally well, winning the Patrol Race and regu- larly coming in the top third of all the novices.

The season certainly had its memorable moments; this most notably included Tpr ‘Eddie the Eagle’ McLaggan’s attempt at ski jumping, coming first in a 24km ski patrol race, and numerous cultural nights. Throughout the season, the team successfully devel- oped their fitness, shooting and skill on skis to a high level. Unfortunately, the season ended rather anticli- mactically, with first Ex SPARTAN HIKE being can- celled, followed shortly afterwards by Ex RUCKSACK suffering the same fate, thus ending the season prema- turely and leaving a slight bitter taste in our mouths. The SCOTS DG Nordic team has, however, never looked better, with the team in a strong position for future seasons. To conclude, the Nordic team is cer- tainly one to watch!
