watching each other’s attempts to be cool, resulting in being piled up in a mess at the bottom of the most horizontal slopes in the resort. SAC May was an absolute magnet to the orange mesh fences, which guide people from the ski lifts to the slopes. He literally found any crevice possible and got stuck in it. Now if Alpine wasn’t justification enough that I am designed for Apres... stand by for our first Nordic lesson. How slippery are the fish scales (posh terminology for Nordic ski’s)! I still can’t figure out how
to actually move and smoothly glide along the tracks. There was a whole new team training alongside us in the afternoon, a great bunch of lads who got on with our team so well. By the end of the afternoon all my cheeks were aching from the falling over on my bottom and all the giggling.
During our first week a sprint event was being held near by to the infamous La Frog. This event consisted of novices taking part in a fancy dress relay of Nordic and alpine - uphill Nordic might I add! All the AMS teams came together at the top of the slope in some flattering and hilarious outfits, none of which were appropriate for night time relay racing. Some inflatable horses, some short Ginger Spice dresses, and I’m pretty sure He Man was knocking about somewhere too. DPHC (SN) team’s fancy dress theme
for 2019 was ‘mystical creatures’. Capt Prowse-Jones was Chief Unicorn with his trusty midget Unicorns in tow, fuelling the competitors with caramel or strawberry ‘energy shots’. We also had a token Welsh Dragon and Leprechaun bouncing about La Frog’s slope. The atmosphere
of that evening was excitable, it was a great opportunity for many of us to reignite
friendships and create new memories. During the rest of the week some of the
more progressed groups from our team went on to train for slalom speed racing. Maj McCammon and Sgt Sugden qualified for the A race, whist Maj Brown, Capt Prowse-Jones and Sgt Brown qualified for the B race. Maj Brown and LCpl Naulls ensured there was plenty of RADC team
