  CORPS MATTERS
Royal Army Dental Corps Centenary 1921–2021
In 2021 the Corps will be commemorating and celebrating 100 years since its formation in 1921. Over these 100 years the Corps has had an enormously varied history, contributing to the operational effectiveness and health of the Army both at peace and at war.
The 100 years began with the Royal Warrant forming the Army Dental Corps being signed by King George V on 4th January 1921 and seven days later Winston Churchill, as Secretary of State for War and Air, signed the Special Army Order No. 4 which promulgated the Royal Warrant:
The ‘Royal’ prefix was awarded in November 1946 to become the Royal Army Dental Corps in recognition of its service in the Second World War. During 2021 we will be taking part in a number of events that will both
commemorate and celebrate the Corps’ first 100 years. This will include serving and retired persons from
both the Regular and Reserve forces.
Additionally several members and ex-members of the Corps’ are writing a series of articles for the British Dental Journal that tell the Corps’ story and it’s contributions to the Army and the wider dental profession.
A project carried out in conjunction with the AMS Museum will be showcasing a temporary exhibition of RADC historical pieces and stories. This will be shown at a number of military museums across the UK during the Centenary year, remaining for six weeks at each venue.

If there are other events that you
feel would benefit the Centenary year (a Centenary sporting challenge perhaps?) then please inform the RADC100 Committee via: Leigh.valler419@mod.gov.uk
The success of the Centenary year will depend on ensuring as many people who have been involved with the Corps’ history, including their relatives too, are aware of the plans for 2021 so they can attend the events listed below.
