As a final word about the people in
this club, we should like to share a story involving Toby, the first club member Andy spoke to.
Recently five family members (all non-sailors) arrived late on a Friday night, complete with suitcases, containing an ominously large quantity of booze, food, clothes, shoes and, as Andy supposed, at least two kitchen sinks. Seeing that we only had a three-person dinghy to ferry crew and provisions from Gins pontoon to Crews Control (in the darkness),Toby insisted
on helping by ferrying back and forth
with his dinghy. This act of kindness is the quintessence of the spirit of this club; a club we have grown to treasure.
We thank you all.
  Bio
Andrew and Leanne have sailed for over thirty-five years and, after twenty years of saving their pennies, were able to commit to buying their first boat, Crews Control, just four years ago. Having first completed his ‘Competent Crew’ in 1991 (or, as Andrew jokes, what his instructor called ‘Incompetent Crew’) Andrew slowly progressed his RYA qualifications when life and family allowed. With a background in racing larger yachts (as crew),Andrew and Leanne now enjoy
the more sedate cruising life when their two sons (both in their late teens) and their busy professional lives permit. Having chartered boats further afield in the Med and Caribbean, they have recently returned from three weeks sailing the islands in Croatia where, somewhere off the coast of the island of Hvar, Andrew took to one-knee on deck and re-proposed to Leanne on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary. Oh, and to save Andrew’s blushes, car U-turns and unnecessary dinghy rides, Leanne now has a checklist they complete each time they leave their boat!
