 INTER-COMPANY TRAINING & VISITS
    JUO Block and OCdt Cockram
The mornings event built up to the highly contested tug of war, before the main event; the Old College Dash. Urged on by yells of unwavering support almost as
impassioned as those heard during the tug of war, the event proved a fitting end to a glorious day of sport and was a real spectacle to see, as runners sprinted boldly towards the Old College steps.
Despite not gaining high placings
overall, great camaraderie and
sportsmanship demonstrated was evident throughout the day and there were some valiant efforts made against formidable opposition. Whilst Northumbria UOTC finally took the title of QCC winners for 2017, Officer Cadets and staff alike were not to be disappointed, as we were treated to a fantastic day out and a delicious curry dinner and drinks; an opportunity to discuss daring tactics and tales from the sports fields.

As the 2018 hosts for the prestigious event, the pressure is certainly on to prove ourselves on the sports fields. Therefore, CUOTC is already
planning structured sports
training nights to prepare for
the tournament. QCC presents something of a logistical challenge in terms of organising facilities and occasions for team practices, with the usual frenzy of student life coupled with the fact that our Officer Cadets are recruited from
a widespread number of university locations. However, unwavering in our spirit and following the positive feedback from this years tournament, CUOTC are sure to be operating in vigour and
full force for the 2018 Queen’s Challenge Cup, to truly make our mark on the event.
