“Why are you walking the Camino?” That question was asked countless times during our month-long pilgrimage across northern Spain. As a group, we had lots of answers: to see if we were physically and mentally strong enough to complete it, for religious reasons, to learn about the culture/architecture/food of the region, for the pride of CUOTC (we believe we’re the first
British Army unit to walk the whole thing), for the free time to ponder, because we might as well.
Our daily routine started at 0545 with a shake on the leg from 2Lt Campbell (ex-CUOTC, now QDG, and our ML for the exped), ablutions, clothes on, pack, a quick bite, and on the road at 0630. Then an hour or two of walking followed by
