Crich Pilgrimage Sunday 3rd July 2011
This year’s Pilgrimage included the re-dedication of the Post 1945 Named Memorial, which had been removed and extended to include the names of those who fell in 2010. A very large congregation gathered for the ceremonies and the weather remained kind throughout the services, showing Crich at its best for the visiting families and dignitaries from Cheshire.
The Colour Parties from 1st and 2nd Battalions paraded followed by a plethora of Standard
Bearers from all counties of the MERCIAN area. The service was led by the Assistant Bishop
of Derby and the civic procession, made up of dignitaries from Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Cheshire, was led on by the Lords Lieutenant of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Following the service, the Colonel of the Regiment, Brigadier Sharpe OBE addressed the congregation and gave an update on the Regiment and recent tours.
