 The North East Association Golf
The Annual North East Golf competition took place on Friday 30 June at the picturesque Ryton Gold course.
The weather was overcast for much of the day much to the delight of those 20 golfers taking part.
Trying to work out Stapleford calculations was a confusing issue for the Regimental Secretary who has never set foot on a golf course or picked up a gold club (apart from Blackpool Pleasure Beach Crazy Golf circa 1974).
The first foursome consisted of Tony Fairlamb, Mel Tazey, Colin Brooks and Ronnie Spinks, the idea was to let the elder statesman set the pace!
It was wonderful to see nine golfers from the Regiment turn up including attached arms and it was from this cohort the eventual winner would come, Cpl Paylor with a score of Stapleford score of 41, which is apparently a decent score, well done to him and to Sgt Connor who achieved the longest drive and Sgt Black who was nearest the pin, not forgetting Mel Tazey who completed the longest round.
A wonderful day was had by all, we look forward to seeing more Association members join us again next year by which time the Secretary will be a font of all golfing knowledge.
Cpl Paylor, the winner of the competition presented with the trophy by the Regimental Secretary
