Three cheers for Their Majesties in Buckingham Palace gardens
abundance throughout and climaxed in the Buckingham Palace Gardens, where three cheers for their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla were shouted with enough gumption to echo metaphori- cally – and perhaps literally too, given the deafening volume – up to North Yorkshire and beyond to members of the regimental family worldwide.
Our involvement in the coronation was an utter privilege and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The Light Dragoons’ partici- pation adds another event to our rich history, evidencing the truth in ‘viret in æternum’ (it flourishes forever). All those on parade can be proud that their hard work and effort enabled us to meet our other regimental motto – ‘merebimur’ (we shall be worthy) – fit for nothing less than a king.
