Allotments a big hit in Parliament
Your President, Phil Gomersall, went down to the Houses of Parliament at very short notice on Monday 25th June to give a condensed presentation along with
some other groups, at the launch of the newly created Parliamentary Evidence Week.
We were a huge success, and our message was a big hit with all MPs in attendance. Phil feels that in future this is a field we can contribute to at Government level.

Make a Children’s Pizza wheel
Most kids love a slice of pizza. You can help your children to make the connection between plot and plate by giving over a part of your plot for a children’s pizza wheel, where they can grow their own ingredients in a pizza shaped plot!
1. Mark out a circle of earth with small stones or sticks and divide into slices. Maybe your child likes square pizzas? They will need a chequerboard design.
2. Decide on the ingredients for your pizza; ideal ingredients are basil, rocket, oregano, courgette, spinach, chard, peppers and tomatoes. Those with a taste for pineapple on their pizza would need a hot bed to produce a fruit in the UK.
3. Plant up each section with your chosen ingredients. Some of the herbs can be sown direct; other ingredients can be planted as small plants.
4. Feed and water appropriately and soon you will be garnishing your pizzas with home-grown rocket, adding oregano to your home-made tomato sauce and slicing peppers for a Pizza con Peperoni.
