Artists Corner
 Kevin Dutton
Kevin is an artist who takes photographs of the plants he grows at his allotment and garden at home in South London. He has been a plotholder at the Rosendale Allotments Association for over twenty years and has documented it since his arrival there in 1998. There are over 400 plots at Rosendale and, situated on a hill, it provides a rich environment for photography and has stunning views over central London.
A professional photographer for thirty years, Kevin decided
to embark upon a series of still life studio plant studies following commissions from the RHS, drawing inspiration from two areas
of botanical art: Dutch still life paintings and botanical illustrations. Nowadays, all of the plants, flowers, fruits, vegetables and weeds are chosen at different times in the calendar and photographed either individually or in group compositions.
Kevin’s work can be seen at art fairs in the UK and abroad. It has been on show this year in London, Stockholm, New York and South Korea. He also teaches photography, leading botanical photography courses, most recently at the Victoria and Albert Museum where students were able to see artwork from the V&A’s archive of botanical art and illustration before creating their own plant studies in the garden and studio.
A number of limited edition prints, framed, mounted or unframed, are available to purchase from his online gallery. For more information:
