Ambewela Farm – Sri Lanka
Ambewela Farm is located in the Nuwara Eliya District of Sri Lanka, and I was lucky enough to visit in March this year. We had had an interesting day, which included a tour of a tea factory showing us how tea was produced. I even did some tea picking on the plantation. Tea plantations are everywhere in this area and are an amazing sight.
It was at the end of our tour and at the end of the day when our guide asked us if we would like to visit Ambewela Farm. It is a very large dairy farm and it is said that the best milk produce comes from this area. Pigs, goats, sheep and rabbits can also be seen. The landscape is amazing.
Whilst on our tour of the Farm I came across some very colourful vegetable plots. I began taking photos and was approached by a Mr Kumararathna. He explained to me that he grew the vegetables and the employees of the farm were given them. The growing conditions are perfect with sun and rain. He was very knowledgeable about vegetable growing and told me that he had worked in Europe, including London and Rome. I really enjoyed my chat with Mr Kumararathna.
